Bird Nest Place Holders

bn_2ndnest2

It’s been a long week and only one more day to go.  We’ve been chomping to get outside more and enjoy the crazy weather and my daughter was determined to to make a birds nest.  We’re not sure where she got the idea, where she gets any of her ideas, but it seemed to fit in with this ‘Outdoor’ Theme so off we went to collect twigs.  Since that’s what birds make them out of why not.  Right?

Wrong?  I don’t know how they do it, but making a Bird’s Nest isn’t easy.  So I…Googled it.  And thankfully there is a creative and innovative blogger out there who had awesome directions.  The blog is called Perpetualplum Weblog.  The directions are clear and concise and we added a thing or two to make it our own.

In addition to adding ribbon, sparkly garland and acorns we added name tags so that the Bird’s Nests could be used as place holders on the Thanksgiving Table.   Another fun idea would be to add candies or trinkets inside the Nests so that they could be found by guests as they gathered around the table to Give Their Thanks.  They make such a strong statement that you only need to accent with a monochromatic color scheme and to make a big impact.
