In a world filled with beautiful design it’s difficult to determine where design fits in our everyday life. Too often I’ve seen renovations that are absolutely gorgeous, but you wonder how they paid for it and how the chairs your grandmother gave you would fit. Are their sweaters really all the same color and how do they have so little food in the pantry? Well, it has taken me a really long time to even consider writing about project ideas that I believe work in my world. I was an interior designer in Greenwich, CT at a high end Architectural Firm for years before having children and the effort we placed on every detail was immense. But, it did make me realize that those details are what makes a project truly spectacular. Great design for me has always been about, of course, amazing visuals but also real life function. And it must fit my needs and my budget. I know, I’m going to say the taboo, I make my decisions based on my budget not my budget based on my decisions. There it’s out, my dirty little secret.
I will be posting various project in all aspects of design that we use everyday, but mostly home and interior design. I will strive to make them as cost effective and as functional, as well as beautiful as I possibly can. I have set up guest bloggers to share their experiences and projects in scrapbooking, quilting, knitting, photography, and jewelry making. I look forward to exploring and sharing this world with you.
